Obituary for John (David) Elliott

John (David) Elliott
The family of John (David) Elliott sadly announce his peaceful death at home in Brockville, Ont. on Thursday, March 15, 2018. David was born in Fort William, Ont. on Mar. 20, 1937 to William and Elsie (Paul) Elliott who predeceased him. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Laureen (nee Daniels), 4 children Denise Pollari (Sam), Bruce (Carla), all of Thunder Bay, Ont, Joanne Noonan (Tim), and Brian (Lorie), all of Ottawa, as well as his 7 much-loved grandchildren Sarah and Craig (Dana) Elliott, Russell and Danielle Pollari, and Danny, Kyle and Katie Noonan. He is also survived by his aunt Pearl Paul of Thunder Bay, his brothers-in-law Joseph Daniels of Calgary, Patrick (Winnie) Daniels, Jerry (Dolores) Courtney and sister-in-law Jackie Daniels all of Thunder Bay, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dave graduated from Queen's University in 1960 with an Applied Science degree in Electrical Engineering. Upon graduation he worked for RCA Victor in Montreal, Que. During that time he was President of RCA Engineers and Scientists Association. In 1976 he was transferred to the Prescott plant as Manager of Engineering. He was an active member of many Canadian Standards Assoc. (Standards Writing) Committees. He was also a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario. Dave was a kind, gentle, generous and patient man. He had a deep respect for nature, and a love of all living things. He enjoyed his flower gardens, reading, walking and summers on Lake Superior, Thunder Bay. More than anything Dave loved to be with his family. He was very much loved and will be dearly missed.

The family will receive friends at Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James St. East, Brockville on Sunday, March 18th from 1-4 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church, 66 Church St. Brockville, on Monday, March 19th at 10 a.m. Interment will take place after a memorial mass in Thunder Bay at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Diabetes Canada, the Brockville and District Hospital Foundation; Palliative Care, or a charity of your choice would be gratefully acknowledged by Dave's family.
